Admission Arrangements
Consultation on the admission arrangements at Bury St Edmunds County High School
We are consulting on the admissions arrangements for Bury St Edmunds County High School for the academic year 2024/25 in line with the School Admissions Code 2021.
The consultation will commence at 9am on Friday 9 December 2022 and will conclude at midnight on Friday 27 January 2023.
Why are we consulting?
The school must set (‘determine’) admission arrangements annually. Where changes are proposed to admission arrangements, the school must first publicly consult on those arrangements. If no changes are made to admission arrangements, they must be consulted at least once every 7 years.
We have a statutory duty to consult on admission arrangements if we intend to make a change.
The changes being proposed are to take into account the closure of the two middle schools that had priority over applications based on distance in the existing admissions arrangements. Bury St Edmunds County High School – Westley and Horringer Court Middle Schools will no longer be partner schools and their details are therefore removed from the admissions policy.
You are invited to review the school admission arrangements for Bury St Edmunds County High School at https://www.countyupper.org/about-us/admissions/ and any questions or responses to be considered should be sent to office@countyupper.org .
The consultation is being communicated by the school as follows:
- Notification to Suffolk County Council
- Notifications to local education settings in Local Authority
- Notification to all parents and carers of pupils at the School
- Publication across the Unity Schools Partnership websites
On conclusion of the consultation on Friday 27 January 2023, all responses will be collated and presented to the Local Governing Board for consideration and determination.
The final outcome of the consultation will be posted on the school’s website along with the final admissions policy for 2024/25 by 15 March 2023.
