Remote Learning for Students
During periods of disruption to our normal educational provision, we continue to provide resources and activities to support learning.
We provide access to a number of excellent online systems to support learning throughout the year, which are particularly useful when school is closed. We also develop students’ ability to review, reflect and prepare for future learning.
The priority for any student who is unwell due to covid is to rest and not to be overly concerned about work during what will usually prove to be a limited amount of time away from school.
Students should first make use of Go4Schools to make sure they are aware of which lessons they would have had that day and that any homework or associated resources are used.
Students in all years will also be able to keep up to date with homework via Go4Schools.
During periods of prolonged disruption to our normal educational provision, we have set out our Remote Learning Policy, which outlines how we will commit to provide a continuation of education when face-to-face teaching is not possible. We have also provided guidance to support our community in how to best help our learners.

PROTOCOLS FOR STUDENTS – IN A NUTSHELL
- You are expected to behave in the Google Classroom lesson as you would in school and all usual school rules regarding behaviour and etiquette apply.
- You must ensure you log onto Google Classroom before your first lesson is due to start
- Try to choose a sensible place to work from (somewhere quiet with space to work).
- You must ensure you are fully prepared for your online lessons by having all the necessary equipment ready to use (e.g. exercise book, pen, pencil, calculator etc.).
- When joining a Google Classroom lesson you make sure your video and microphone are turned off. You are only allowed to have these switched on if directed by your teacher.
- You must make sure you are appropriately dressed for the lesson, no pyjamas/nightwear or inappropriate clothing.
- You must ensure that all messages sent during Google Classroom lessons, or information you upload, is polite, sensible, relevant and respectful towards all participants in the lesson.
- Students are not permitted to record or screenshot the lesson unless they are invited to do so by their teacher.
- You should follow all instructions given by the teacher on posts, chat or verbally.
- You must treat others with respect at all times during online lessons. If the school code of conduct is not followed appropriately then you may be removed from the online lesson, parents will be contacted and school sanctions applied.

Students can log into Sparx Maths. This is an online learning platform that creates personalised maths homework for students

Students can log into Sparx Science. This is an online learning platform that creates personalised maths homework for students
GCSEPod
GCSEPOD is a web based study package provided to all our students free of charge. GCSEPOD has coverage of all subjects. There is evidence that they improve examination success when used as part of a broad study strategy. Students can use this package on all the curriculum machines in school and at home and can access a wide range of topics at all levels. We strongly advise students to use these packages to complement the other support and materials provided.
